    CIESZYĆ SIĘ ROSNĄĆ OSIĄGNĄĆ WKRÓTCE Wearing suitable clothing and uniform is an important part of preparing students for the world of work and adulthood. We encourage children to take pride in their appearance and to be proud of wearing their School Uniform. Our school uniform is as follows: white shirt or polo shirt black Sweatshirt black trousers/joggers/shorts/skirt/skort black Blazer (optional) purple Tie (optional) black shoes (or plain black trainers) Hair & Jewellery: For safety reasons the following apply: students with long hair should have a hair band. only stud earrings are permitted (no hoops, no face piercings etc) necklaces are not permitted no extreme hairstyles or colours. no false nails or gel coatings students may wear a wristwatch Note: S ixth Form students are not required to wear uniform. The dress code for those students is smart/casual. PE, Swimming & Outdoor Kits Physical development is an important part of the students' learning. It is important that students are dressed appropriately with suitable clothing for all physical activities so that they can participate safely and comfortably. Students need the following for physical activities... Students are allowed to wear mufti on Fridays. This needs to be appropriate casual clothing suitable for all learning environments. If clothing is not suitable we will contact parents/carers and request that they bring in suitable clothing. This is part of a student request/voice raised and voted on by 98%, however should your child not want to wear mufti and remain in a form of uniform (some students do( this is absolutely fine as well. Subjects offered Learning Journeys (under development) Our subject journeys provide a student friendly visualisation of the learning journey from from Y7 through to Y11 and beyond.     CIESZYĆ SIĘ ROSNĄĆ OSIĄGNĄĆ Wkrótce The Duke of Edinburgh Award aims to empower young people; to support them as they learn new skills, overcome obstacles, and build confidence and resilience. We have been celebrating and progressing in this initiative since its inception at our school, and we are proud to share that we are now gaining annual Silver Awards in addition to our Bronze Awards. This is a fantastic accomplishment for our student community! Many of our students have the opportunity to participate in both the Bronze and Silver levels of The Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, with the expedition section taking place either in Guernsey or further afield. This element of the curriculum is crucial in fostering independence, positive attitudes, and essential social skills among our students. Participation in The Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme not only enriches our students' educational experience but also plays a vital role in developing them into successful learners, confident individuals, responsible citizens, and effective contributors to society. The skills and experiences gained through this award will serve our students well as they navigate their future pathways. We are incredibly proud of our students' achievements and the positive impact that The Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme has on their personal growth and development. As we continue to build on this success, we look forward to seeing even more of our students thrive in their pursuits and embrace the challenges that come with these awards.     Royal Academy of Art Young Artist Summer Show We are thrilled to announce that Katie has achieved a remarkable milestone by having her painting entitled 'Mona Katie' selected for the prestigious Royal Academy of Arts Young Artist Summer Show in London. The Young Artist Summer Show is renowned for showcasing the creativity and talent of young artists from across the UK, providing them with a platform to share their work with a wider audience. To have a piece displayed at the Royal Academy is a dream come true for many artists, both young and old, and we are incredibly proud of Katie. Katie's painting, 'Mona Katie,' is a captivating reinterpretation of the classic Mona Lisa, infused with her unique style and perspective. It reflects her creativity and passion for art, and we believe it will resonate with many viewers at the exhibition. Celebrating our achievements! WriteStuff Competition We are thrilled to announce the success of our students in the Guernsey Literary Festival, where the WriteStuff competition showcased the incredible talent of young writers across the island. With a remarkable 1,500 entrants in this island-wide competition, we are proud to celebrate our achievements! We are delighted to share that we had a first prize winner in the Senior ALN section, along with a highly commended entry. The prize-giving ceremony took place at the beautiful Les Cotils Hotel, where stories were brought to life by esteemed authors, including Guernsey's own Huw Lewis Jones. A huge congratulations to all our entrants at Le Murier! Antonio's winning story, titled "The Cheddar Journey," captivated the judges and earned him the top prize. Izzy's highly commended entry, "The Journey of the Maleficent Flying Cat," also showcased her imaginative storytelling skills. We are incredibly proud of our students for their hard work and creativity. Their achievements reflect the vibrant literary spirit at Le Murier. Well done to everyone involved! The Cheddar Journey Huw Lewis Jones comments on the winning Senior ALN category , by Antonio de Santos , "...Cinematic in scope, with added action. And cheese! I enjoyed the animal perspective, encouraging empathy and connecting us with the drama. I followed along in anticipation to its sad, inevitable ending. I hope the scientists rue their actions and put a stop to their meddling."

    Safeguarding - Everyone's responsibility At Le Murier, we believe that safeguarding is a shared responsibility that involves every member of our school community. We are committed to upholding Article 3 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, which prioritises the best interests of the child. Our PSHE and personal development programme, spanning from Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 5, is linked to the Convention on the Rights of the Child. Nasza ścieżka programowa jest elastyczna i ma na celu promowanie umiejętności i wiedzy potrzebnych do nauki, życia i życia dla wszystkich uczniów. Opiera się na Wielkim Obrazie. This curriculum pathway offers a flexible and bespoke approach to a student centred curriculum, focusing on skills that matter to this student group and their families. As well as literacy, numeracy and ICT, areas of focus include: Developing communication using multi-modal methods Choice and decision making while encouraging autonomy and developing a positive sense of self Developing social and emotional skills, personal development and positive mental health and well-being (encouraging and supporting self-regulatory behaviours and coping skills, developing tolerance and flexibility, resilience, sensory self-regulation, self-help and independence) Movement and body awareness (including the development of fine and gross motor skills and opportunities for osteopathy, yoga and hydrotherapy, climbing, swimming and outings into the community.) Skills are taught through a variety of activities which are embedded in meaningful real life contexts which can be taken through into family life at home, into the community and ultimately into adulthood. Teaching methods that support learning and development may include Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS), visual schedules and work systems, principles of TEACCH, objects of reference, sensory diet, Signalong, Intensive Interaction, sensory stories and Attention Autism. The department is split into groups according to their needs. Multidisciplinary input is sought for assessment, the setting of objectives and joint classroom working.

    CIESZYĆ SIĘ ROSNĄĆ OSIĄGNĄĆ Departments At Le Murier we recognise that students have a range of needs that require different approaches to learning. Classes are organised based on the curriculum pathway that students are working on; formal, semi-formal, pastoral. The formal pathway is divided into 2 age related departments; Middles & Seniors and the Semi-Formal Pathway is divided into S&C and 6th Form. We also recognise that some students may benefit from a hybrid curriculum with a bespoke curriculum bridging different pathways.
