At Le Murier, our Pastoral Pathway is designed to create a nurturing educational environment that prioritises the well-being and engagement of all students. By integrating the Engagement Model with a Trauma-Informed Approach, we ensure that every student feels safe, supported, and valued. The Pastoral pathway follows that of the formal, with focus on academic subjects as well as accreditation. Students work towards College courses at TGI as well as apprenticeships. Here are the key benefits of this approach and pathway:

Safe and Supportive Environment

Our Pastoral Pathway emphasises flexibility and emotional safety, accommodating the unique needs and experiences of each student. Students appreciate the ‘hub’ area, which provides a welcoming space for them to transition between learning and reflection. This environment fosters a sense of belonging and security, essential for effective learning and academic success.

Trauma-Informed Principles

We recognise the importance of emotional healing in fostering meaningful educational engagement. Our trauma-informed principles ensure that students have access to supportive adults with whom they have built strong connections since Year 7. This continuity allows students to seek guidance and discuss their experiences, promoting emotional well-being and resilience, which are critical for academic learning.

Student-Centred Participation

Our approach focuses on how students interact with teachers, peers, and learning materials. We provide diverse ways for students to engage, ensuring that their voices are heard and valued. This student-centred participation enhances their learning experience and encourages active involvement in their education, which is vital for academic achievement.

Feedback from work placements indicates that students demonstrate excellent behaviour and positive attitudes, reflecting the effectiveness of our inclusive practises in supporting their academic and personal growth.

Teacher-Student Relationship

The relationship between teaching staff and students is pivotal in creating a flexible, student-centred learning environment. Our team are committed to fostering strong connections that facilitate engagement, ensuring that students feel supported in their academic and personal development. We aim to create a holistic educational experience that empowers all students to thrive. At Le Murier, we believe that when students feel safe and supported, they are better equipped to engage with their learning and achieve their full potential academically.
