CIESZYĆ SIĘ ROSNĄĆ OSIĄGNĄĆ Wkrótce The Duke of Edinburgh Award aims to empower young people; to support them as they learn new skills, overcome obstacles, and build confidence and resilience. We have been celebrating and progressing in this initiative since its inception at our school, and we are proud to share that we are now gaining annual Silver Awards in addition to our Bronze Awards. This is a fantastic accomplishment for our student community! Many of our students have the opportunity to participate in both the Bronze and Silver levels of The Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, with the expedition section taking place either in Guernsey or further afield. This element of the curriculum is crucial in fostering independence, positive attitudes, and essential social skills among our students. Participation in The Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme not only enriches our students' educational experience but also plays a vital role in developing them into successful learners, confident individuals, responsible citizens, and effective contributors to society. The skills and experiences gained through this award will serve our students well as they navigate their future pathways. We are incredibly proud of our students' achievements and the positive impact that The Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme has on their personal growth and development. As we continue to build on this success, we look forward to seeing even more of our students thrive in their pursuits and embrace the challenges that come with these awards. Safeguarding - Everyone's responsibility At Le Murier, we believe that safeguarding is a shared responsibility that involves every member of our school community. CIESZYĆ SIĘ ROSNĄĆ OSIĄGNĄĆ Home Learning We recognise the importance of supporting students to continue learning beyond school and take a holistic approach towards this, valuing life skills and social / emotional development as well as core functional skills. We encourage students to extend their learning by providing opportunities to reinforce what they are doing in school. All students have access to a range of digital learning platforms and have individual logins for these. This may also be supplemented by more formal activities. In Years 7&8 there is also an interactive Home Learning Portal with suggestions/advice for extending learning beyond school. Digital Learning Platforms TT RockStars Mathletics Complete Maths Fiction Express SeeSaw Times Table Rock Stars is a website and app for practicing times tables facts and number fluency. It's matched to student ability and presented in an engaging 'Rock Star' style. We recommend a few minutes of regular practice each day to reinforce and improve recall of multiplication and division facts. Go To Website Complete Maths Tutor is a a powerful new platform that assesses student knowledge & understanding through an analytical assessment then provides courses to support next steps in learning. Courses include videos lessons and practice questions that students can complete at their own pace. Quizzes check student understanding before moving on. Go To Website Fiction Express is an online library with a wide range of fiction books to suit different reading levels. The site tracks student progress through books and provides quizzes at the end of each chapter to check comprehension. There are also 'Live Books' where students can vote to decide what the author writes for the next part of the story Go To Website Mathletics is a maths platform used by millions of students worldwide. Students can use it to reinforce learning or develop number fluency through live games. Students earn points for all work and can achieve Bronze, Silver and Gold certificates. Go To Website SeeSaw is our main platform for sharing learning and communicating between home and school. Students can logon to SeeSaw from home and post to their journal to share the learning that they are doing outside of school. The SeeSaw platform provides students, parents and staff with a safe and secure user friendly interface for capturing learning, celebrating and success and messaging between home and school. Getting Started Parents/Carers are invited to SeeSaw when students join our school. There are joining instructions with the invite and once signed up you can either use the app or visit the website: app.seesaw.me *to access your child's learning journal or message us.
